Whenever a priest celebrates Mass, he has at least two specific intentions. The first intention is to celebrate the Mass according to the rubrics the Church provided for how to say the Mass. The second is to apply the grace of that Mass toward a specific need or intention. This second intention, commonly called “the intention of the Mass,” are special intentions offered to God as prayers of intercession and thanksgiving in and through the Eucharist. The faithful may bring their own intentions to the Mass, which they each carry privately and place upon the altar spiritually in prayer.
At the Church of the Resurrection, there are many requests for Mass Intentions. We are happy to receive requests from parishioners, as well as members of our community. We will do our best to find a date for your intention within four to six weeks.
When a date is set for a Mass intention, a Mass card is available to you to send to the family of the person for whom that Mass intention is requested.
A donation for a Mass Intentions is an optional personal decision. The suggested amount is at least $10. This signifies the sacrificial nature of giving of something of yourself. If you would like to make a donation online, please visit our online link at https://www.osvhub.com/resurrectionhancock/funds/stipends-mass-intentions page to access the online giving form. You may also stop by the parish office or mail your intentions with a check payable to Church of the Resurrection, 900 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930
